LITTLETHORPE VILLAGE WEBSITE - FOR VILLAGE NEWS, CALENDAR OF EVENTS, PHOTOGRAPHS OF SOCIAL FUNCTIONS, REPORTS OF MEETINGS AND PARISH COUNCIL ITEMS

ceilidh 15th march 2008

First of all, an apology to all you people who left it too late to get tickets for our recent Ceilidh which was sold out.  You missed an excellent night.  The Drouthy Band entertained us extremely well (despite being accompanied by The Littlethorpe Percussion Backing Group at one stage!) and the dancing was so popular some people took to “stripping the willow” in the entrance hall as the main dance floor was full. One of our Parish Councillors, Chris Laker, entered wholeheartedly into the proceedings by playing the spoons rather well in the band but worried us all when he blew a kiss to Martin as he left!

It was highly entertaining watching certain members of our community trying to master the pat-a-cake polka.  It’s not as easy as it sounds, is it Malcolm?

Our thanks go to Nippy Chippy who supplied the fish & chips which were to die for.  So many people commented on the very high standard of both the entertainment and the supper that we will hopefully have you back to another of our functions.

If you would like details of our future functions e-mailed to you at the time of publication then please let me have your e-mail address.  Remember, because of fire regulation, numbers are strictly limited and entry is by ticket only so BOOK EARLY!

                                  Review of 2007

Happy New Year to everyone. We had a varied programme in 2007.  The weather could have been better for our Family BBQ in the summer but didn’t stop young and not so young enjoying the day.  The Caribbean Night in October was a brilliant, fantastic, fabulous do which everyone (including the band) wants to see repeated..................maybe next year!  The New Year’s Eve Party certainly went with a swing with more than 60 people, including Angela & Ian’s friends who travelled all the way from Australia , joining in the celebrations.  Thank you to Simon Turner (and his backing singers) for entertaining us so well.

We hope you enjoyed the events we put on for you in 2007 and look forward to seeing you through 2008.  As news of our social activities spread, we are getting more and more requests for tickets – so much so that we had a waiting list for one event last year.  With this in mind, please please buy your tickets early and don’t be left out.  Our grateful thanks go to everyone who helped with these events in any way.  We have made a donation from the monies raised at the raffles to Martin House Hospice for Children and the RNIB.                Our thanks also go to Carol Abbot who has decided to step down after many years on the committee but who will continue to support us and help when able.   If you would like to step into Carol’s shoes, then please let one of us know – it can be hard work but it’s great fun.

What a fabulous time we had at our sell-out Caribbean Night in October.  The band was brilliant to dance to and everyone entered into the spirit of the evening with outfits ranging from pirates to grass skirts & coconuts and everything you can imagine in-between.    Everyone enjoyed it so much that this is one night that will be repeated again. Don?t miss out next time!

A great big THANK YOU must go to everybody who helped decorate the hall ? it looked fantastic and really set the scene.  Thanks also for all the kind donations of raffle prizes but most of all thanks to everyone for supporting us and making the event such fun.

If you have any ideas for future events that you would like us to arrange, please let us know.  Perhaps you ve been to a function elsewhere that you think would work in the Village Hall (that s how we got the idea for Murder Mystery) or maybe you would like something repeated that we ve done before.  It s your village too so tell us what you want.
