The original Village Hall - The Memorial Institute was formally opened by Mr J T Gilling JP on the evening of New Year's Day in 1920 in the presence of a large gathering of parishioners and friends.
The need for a suitable Parish Room for meetings in Littlethorpe Parish had been felt for many years and the opening it was felt would adequately fill a long felt need.

Rev. R Macpherson thanked all who had assisted in the provision of the Institute. Great credit was due to Mr W S Horner and the Committee for their indefatigable efforts.
There is a newspaper cutting reporting a successful Whist Drive and Dance held in the Memorial Institute in January 1920.

| After the original Village Hall burned down, considerable thought and discussion went into the provision of a new Hall. The present building was purchased, the foundations laid, the building erected and finally the floor was laid. The new Hall was used for the first Committee meeting in a partially completed state in August 1953. |
Indeed, a decision was made in May 1953 to allow the Coronation Committee to use the Hall on Coronation Day, 'in it's then state', but no entertainment could be allowed since the floor was not yet laid! |

The current Village Hall was opened on the 6th May 1954
. Here it is being erected by Mr Greenwood, the builder. One of his employees, Percy Cross on the roof.
